Year Round Jump Training

JUMP TRAINING (PLYOMETRICS)

Eastside will host 3 different, progressive jump training programs. These will include Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced programs.  This is a great way to improve any players vertical jump and volleyball ability. A player who can touch 10' can do many different things that the player that can touch 9' cannot. Jumping high is not a God given ability but a trained skill. The programs are designed so that by the time a student completes the Advanced program, she/he will have the knowledge, strength and skills to maintain or increase their jumping ability on their own through continued diligent training.  We will have Glen Conley, former Kent State Volleyball coach and current US masters record holder in the high jump, run the program.


Beginner Program
The beginner program will include principles related to core strength, balance, acceleration, and volleyball movement. Correct jumping technique and landing will be taught.

Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5:00pm starting February 27 and concluding April 26 (18 sessions). 

Cost: $200 for all classes in the program

Intermediate Program
The intermediate program will emphasize the technique learned in the beginner session while building on the physiological base that was established.  The focus will be on continuing to perfect our technique while strengthening our core jumping muscles.  As always, balance, core strength and physical adaptations will be the focus.  Plyometric work such as depth jumps will be introduced when the athletes are physically strong enough to perform them.  Single leg squats will be the baseline test for readiness.  Adapting their maximal jumps to volleyball situations will also be introduced.  Jumping high should improve their ability to perform in the sport.  NOTE: TO ENROLL IN INTERMEDIATE JUMP TRAINING, BEGINNER JUMP TRAINING MUST BE COMPLETED.

Jump Training Maintenance
This program is designed for high school players who have participated in Beginner and/or Intermediate Jump Training that want to maintain their jumping skills during the high school season without going through the rigors of a normal twice per week jump training class.  The class will be held once per week on Sunday evenings.   

Dates: August 3 through October 12 (11 sessions). 

Cost: $100 for all classes in the program

Advanced Program
The advanced program will continue to emphasize the techniques and physical improvements the athletes have made while introducing the concept of year-round training in jump training.  The athletes will be taught to make up their own workouts based upon the training principles that have been taught such as specificity, progressive overload, adaptability, and rest and recovery.  By the end of the advanced program the athletes will individualize their workouts and leave with a year-round training program for themselves produced in conjunction with Glen's input and expertise.
