The DIVA program was created by Eastside Cleveland Juniors in 2010 to help provide opportunities
to players looking to make less of a commitment to the demanding sport of Junior Olympic volleyball.
DIVA stands for Developmental and Instructional Volleyball Academy. In its first year Eastside
hosted 5 teams in the DIVA program. This is the perfect level of play for the improving athlete to
prepare themselves for grade school, junior high and Junior Olympic play. We expect several of
our 2010 DIVAs to make Junior Olympic teams this year. This program is open to all 3rd through 9th
graders.
The DIVA’s will practice twice a week and compete in 5 tournaments at Eastside Volleyball Club.
Practices will be Fridays from 5-7pm and Sundays throughout the day. When we get to February
and Eastside Volleyball Club begins to host tournaments, practices will be either Saturday or
Sunday. The DIVAs will play against the other DIVA teams and teams from Eastside’s Junior
Olympic program. These tournaments typically last from 9am- 3pm.
The DIVA program will host an introductory meeting and player assessment on December 10th
from 9am-12pm. During this time the program will be explained to parents, and players will be
evaluated in order to split teams. This year teams will be split by ability, not age. Within ability group,
teams will be split evenly. By splitting the talent by ability we feel there will be much more room for
improvement.
The cost of the program is $500. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot in the

Junior Olympic teams you should not register until after you have made your decision in regard to
JO’s.
The Eastside Training Team will train on Monday or Wednesday from 7pm-9pm. The cost of the
program will be $150/session. We will be accepting 16 girls into each session. The Eastside
Training Team will teach all fundamental skills along with introducing the participants to team
offensive and defensive concepts. This is the perfect way for a girl not playing Junior Olympic and
cannot commit to the DIVA program, to receive training from Eastside Cleveland Juniors coaches.
